Cide - TurkeyCide
Cide is a town and district of the Kastamonu Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. Gideros Bay is a natural port to the west of Cide which is 13 kilometers from this holiday resort with pensions and fish restaurants. Driving westward from Cide on the D101 there is a mile long promenade along the wide sandy beach. This flat seafront road, lined with new developments, continues through Irmak where after 7 kilometers it crosses a river by the village of Kumluca. Several kilometers later at Kalafat the road begins to climb above Gideros Bay then 20 kilometers later it hairpins down another 3 or 4 kilometers to a small beach at Kapisuyu. Add another couple of kilometers and visitors will arrive at the reknowned boat-building town of Kurucaşile. Rifat Ilgaz (1911-1993) was born in Cide, Kastamonu, Turkey. He was a teacher, a poet and writer. He started writing poetry during his junior school years and evolved into one of the most prolific social-realist writers of 20th century Turkish Literature. His works are successful representations of the political clashes of mid-20th century and the coup d'etat period in Turkey.

Cide is a typical Black Sea town with Amasra to the west, to the east is Inebolu and south and north of Pinarbasi and Şenpazar and surrounded by the Black Sea. Cide is on a coastline of 100 kilometers and has a pristine beach. Valla Kanyonu in places reaches between 800 and 1200 meters high with steep cliffs as it stretches along 12 kilometers of the side walls of the Cide Pinarbasi. There are daily bus sevices directly from Istanbul around 21:00 and 22:00 or you can also take one of the frequent minibuses from Kastamonu, Bartin or Inebolu. Since 1986, Yali Otel has offered their hotel rooms with wonderful sea views and serves a variety of seasonal fresh fish in its restaurant. Ali Osman Tugtepe and his family always welcome you with great pleasure to their warm family hotel. Yali Otel has 16 rooms with toilet and shower always with hot water and most of the rooms have a TV and refrigerator. Included in the room price is a buffet breakfast.
